Dual-PC setup provides maximum performance by separating game execution from Colorant processing

Required Hardware (Microcontrollers)

These components can be purchased from any electronics retailer. Amazon links provided for convenience.

Arduino Leonardo

CP2102 to TTL

Female to Male Jumpers

Gaming PC

There are no specific requirements for your gaming PC, as Colorant won't run on it. This is your normal PC that you use to run games.

Secondary PC

A laptop works! Even that dusty laptop sitting in your closet is probably good enough. But if you want more specific specs:

  • 4-core CPU minimum
  • GPU is not required
  • 4GB RAM
  • Windows (cuz ain't nobody got time to code on Mac fr)

Setup Notes

Detailed steps on how to configure the hardware (microcontrollers) will be provided upon purchasing.

It's advised to have both PCs connected to the network via ethernet cable. While not mandatory, this ensures better performance and the lowest latency possible.

Game PC

Single-PC setup offers a streamlined solution with minimal hardware requirements

Required Hardware (Microcontrollers)

Only one of these options is required:

OR

Arduino Leonardo with USB HOST SHIELD

Requires professional soldering (being deprecated soon)

Minimum PC Requirements

Colorant is super lightweight and won't impact your gaming performance at all. The software runs silently in the background without hogging any significant resources. Pretty much any budget gaming PC from the last few years will work perfectly. However, if we need to be more specific:

  • 4 core CPU or more
  • GTX 750 or later (or equivalent AMD/Intel)
  • 8GB RAM or more
  • Windows 10/11

Setup Notes

Detailed setup instructions will be provided upon purchase.

The Adafruit RP2040 is strongly recommended for its simplicity and user-friendly setup.
